Not laying down a sufficient mulch layer is a crime against proper lawn care.

The term “woke,” when used by a regressive, just means, “I don’t like this.”

I don’t know, but it looks like it could carry A LOT of garbage and/or mulch. Perfect for this deployment.

Hoarding disorder is the accumulation of too many things one doesn’t actually need, difficulty parting with those things, and becoming upset by the thought of getting rid of them. So, why do we hospitalize those who hoard old magazines or cats, but lionize those who hoard the world’s resources?
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
If billionaires were actually using all of this wealth to “create jobs,” why would we ever have to worry about unemployment? They’re resource hoarders, plain and simple.
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
Remind me, what’s the word for when you require people to work without just compensation? 🤔
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
You seem to be arguing a version of “they’re just following orders.” While true, it’s no excuse. I’ve seen many videos where the civilians are much less accepting of this invading army in their midst. The folks here seem to have full accepted their presence. That’s a problem.
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
Making Congress less attractive to people who would use their office for self-enrichment is kind of the point …
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
Why is everyone in the video acting like this is totally normal?
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
In Citizens United, SCOTUS decided that money was the same as speech. That means that Bill Gates, with a net worth of $116B, can roar at a volume of a jet engine, while the median U.S. household can barely whisper. So, yes, if Bill Gates decided that tax policy needed to change, he could do it.

Yes. But, who’s going to stop him?
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m not surprised by this argument at all. It’s the same argument I’ve heard from corporate management with respect to their employees for years.
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
And you’ll understand where the United States is as a country when you accept that MAGA knows all of this about Trump, but they view you and I as worse.

2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s often hard for people to comprehend the extent to which billionaires like Bill Gates are hoarding our country’s resources. You could make $1,000,000 a day, every day, for 100 years and still not have 1/3 of what Gates has amassed. That kind of imbalance is neither natural nor sustainable.

In the 80’s, American society decided that the true measure of a successful life is money (“Greed is good.”). There is very little more offensive to that idea than the homeless.

2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
Your assertion is that Dems lose statewide in Texas because “White Democrats” force bad candidates on non-black minorities, thereby leaving them no choice but to vote Republican? That’s … novel.
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
💯 The point of Capitalism is to make profit. To make profit, by definition, you must take more from a transaction than you put in. Do so over and over again, and you become rich. Since the ‘80’s, the driving goal of society is to become rich (“Greed is good”). This leaves little room for compassion.
2 of 6 (@twoofsix.bsky.social) reply parent
Because (1) there are a ton of ignorant bigots outside of the major cities (and fair number within); and (2) Dems have TERRIBLE branding problem. Dallas, for example, is blue but ruby-red Highland Park carved itself out of the city years ago to avoid school integration. It’s that way all over.

“The time when most men could support a family ended in the 1980s” with Trickledown Economics. It benefited a handful at the top, while the masses fell further behind. The GOP then lionized the rich and blamed women, immigrants, and minorities for White-male losses. The system is the problem.

Why do we choose to allow this? We now have proof that the people who used to say we need weapons of war in civilian hands to protect us from governmental overreach are full of it (they always were). What is the argument in favor of continuing to allow mass shootings? www.kare11.com/article/news...

Violence, and the credible threat of even greater violence, accompanied each of your examples. True, the U.S. is exceptional, and we might be the first time in history where non-violence topples an authoritarian regime. Or, non-violence with an authoritarian could be suicide. I guess we’ll see.

Powell is no toady, and he didn’t say the Fed is going to lower rates. The Fed has two jobs (1) manage inflation and (2) manage employment. What Powell said is that the Fed is trying to balance those two things, and they are open to the idea of a rate cut if needed to help the labor market.

You’re not wrong about the privilege, but it applies to criminal prosecution. This is a civil matter of legislative administration, and SCoTex in In re Abbott, 628 S.W.3d 288 (Tex. 2021), held that the legislature can secure the physical presence of its members. Rep. Collier even acknowledges this.
