I'm sorry. Can relate. Our dog is sick, stage 2 renal failure, had to replace our water heater ($1,600), now have to get a new front door. Savings gone. Since we need a new side door, patio & 1 window too + some other stuff, we're trying to get fed & QC green loans/grants. Overwhelmed.

I'm still pissed at Elections Canada brushing many of us off who brought up concerns over interference & didn't have adequate mechanisms in place to deal with disinformation & interference.
Should we petition for his removal? Would it do any good? After what's happened in the U.S. I find myself questioning what course of action & control we have over things & how we ensure we don't end up like the U.S. I want more accountability.

A Canadian is telling people not to pretend to be Canadian. That should be reason enough instead of arguing with me about why it doesn't matter for someone to fake their nationality. Would it be acceptable for Americans to pretend to be British or Irish?
Respect & identity play a big part here. Canadian symbols aren’t decorations, pretending to be Canadian for convenience treats a whole nation like a costume. It’s less about not misrepresenting who we are.

Youre right, it is hard & goal posts always seem to be moving. I'm in Canada so I've had to keep on top of who owns our media & it's been surprising. PBS is still one of the good ones, their teams are doing hard work & deserve support. I also like AP, NPR, CBC (Canada).

Not about it being deep but layered. It connects to things like blind patriotism, exceptionalism, resistance to criticism, complacency, and even policy choices like isolationism or endless military spending. It’s less about the phrase itself & more about how that mindset plays out in real life.
