Like most of his demands, it hinges upon his ability to deny legally mandated funds for completely unrelated budget items to states. It then requires the states to go to court, and there is a non-zero chance of a rogue judge or the corrupted supreme court to side with Trump.

A very complicated claim. District by district, the house races averaged the same margin as Trump-Harris (which was not the case in 2016 where he performed 2 points worse). Plus, it's not clear that the press would have given another republican candidate the free pass they gave Trump.

We've just updated our special election Big Board with Drey's big win (10.46 pts, not 11 as stated above). Across 34 special elections this year, Dems are outperforming last year's presidential results by an average of 16 points. That's far ahead of 2017-18.
20 point swing and a flip. And a biggie, costing the republicans their senate supermajority.
Drey is up by about 600 votes with 18% reporting.
And it's 14+ months away.

Despite what you may have heard, Dems have invested *heavily* in this race. Drey raised $160,000 in just six weeks, the Iowa Dems spent $100,000, and the DLCC also made a five-figure investment. Just because these races tend to fly under the radar doesn't mean folks aren't paying attention!
And yet that's functionally what's happening in DC. We can wring our hands about how DC is different, but because they don't have federal representatives or their own governor presumably they should be even _more_ protected from this.
A lot of people don't read papers, watch the news, or consume any sort of politics. That's kind of why we are where we are.
I should note that many of those national guards aren't MAGA and even if they don't outright disobey orders, they're not going to have the desired effect nor occupy indefinitely. That 200k is if all were activated at once.
I'm worried, but also a bit perplexed about how Trump plans on occupying the US. If it's only national guard and he can only mobilize ones with red state governors, that's less than half the total, maybe 200k, but the 20 largest cities alone have pops of over 20M. 100:1 are not great odds.

If you have a response to any sort of subtle analysis about the electoral or political landscape is that Trump is just going to cancel elections then you are getting blocked. It’s not helpful, not necessarily true, and is definitely counterproductive.
