I keep seeing this, but what do you expect the people of Chicago to do? Protest, sure, but if you’re hoping for violence, that’s what they want.
Also, I’m open to alternative suggestions if “Statesman” seems too pretentious or sexist.
I know you asked your fellow Canadians, but as a Statesman, trust neither. Also, I’ve been trying to replace my uses of “America” with US and “American” with Statesman b/c the US shouldn’t claim a name that applies to not one, but two continents. — It may never catch on, but it should.
Hard disagree. For now. If the Republicans actually end free and fair elections, ok. Then the MAGA masses won’t mean anything. True. But until that happens, MAGA Congresspersons are still beholden to their constituents.
The problem is, Trump’s death won’t deal with the Nazis. We need Nuremberg trials and executions for every one of Trump’s sycophants and enablers (including Congress members, governors, state legislators, etc.) if we truly want to “deal with” these evil people. Otherwise, they’ll hide. Again.
Vance doesn’t have the appeal for the MAGA masses. — He might have been the Heritage Foundation / Putin pick for VP, but it is unlikely the majority of peasant MAGA will embrace him. And that, very likely, will break off Congressional support that Trump now enjoys.

There’s a scene in the mini-series North and South where the abolitionist character Virgilia Hazard gives a speech about the South’s “true crop.” I used to show that to my history classes and we’d talk about the implications. If I did that now, under this regime, I’d be fired for sure.
