So beautiful. But what’s his/her name?
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
Pear and Stilton crumble is lovely. If you don’t like blue cheese, Cheshire works very well. I can’t tell you the recipe as I never measure ingredients. I just roughly crumble some of the cheese over the fruit before putting the crumble topping on. 😋

Ooh proper rain! ☔️
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
My wrens are doing that too. They seem to be telling me off every time I step out into the garden. Bickering over winter territories I bet.
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
The trouble with trauma therapy is it unpacks everything from the past, helps you to deal with it and pack it up in a more comfortable place. It can’t really have a fixed ending. You can’t unpack it all and then leave it all undealt with and out there. The process needs to be finished. Xx

Oh my goodness! Sunny, breezy day, washing already out, nice cup of tea in the garden. Nothing else matters right here in this moment.

Just checking everyone is looking before he bursts into his best, loudest aria. 🎶

Me too! Rain forecast here this afternoon so no time like the present! 🙂

Wouldn’t it be great if they tasted of aniseed. 🙂

House martins. Some flying confidently, others flittery fluttery and uncertain. All twittery. Parents encouraging the youngsters to get the hang of it before the long haul of migration. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
Me too. I’m at our cricket club with friends having a few drinks after watching my children and husband play earlier. It is a rare, balmy evening relaxing with good company and, most importantly, happy teenagers.
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes I really do. They’ve been so quiet recently it was lovely to wake up to all the happy chirping and busyness.
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
There was an avian party in my garden this morning! Swallows and house martins wheeling above. Goldfinches twittering madly in the hedges. Mixed tits - mainly blue and long-tailed - gathering insects between the blackberries. Rooks and Woodpigeons in the trees and on the wires. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

Sorry to hear your Mum’s back in hospital. Our NHS is in a sorry state. 😢

Dogs’ ears, eyes and paws, as a minimum, need checking after a walk. Especially if they have cockerpoo/doodle Velcro fur. The wildlife is in enough trouble without us continuing to be obsessed with tidiness.
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
I love it when the mist clings to the ground like that. I agree, it is magical.

Two magpies: Joy, thank goodness (we have 2 important cricket matches today), chuckling to each other in the eucalyptus tree. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

She could be in a hairspray advert! So pretty!🤩
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
Mine was house martins too twittering to each other as they whizzed overhead. They do sound friendly don’t they. Filling up on insects before heading off for the winter soon. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
If you’re concerned I would go to a walk in centre or the like and say you’ve been abroad to a rabies endemic country and were licked by a rabid dog on an open insect bite or something. They’d have to give you the vaccine then. Or maybe you can pay for it privately.
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
Did it scratch or bite him or land on an area with existing broken skin? Or on his eye or mouth?
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
Ah bless. And the teeth! 😍

Great argument. I’m not quick enough to think of counter arguments. I think of great things to say as soon as I get home. 🤣 What worries me is that it isn’t just right wing arseholes. Otherwise reasonable people are being indoctrinated to think we are being overrun by murderers and rapists.
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent

Totally nuts. I’m so angry with this government and a lot the media coverage of this madness. They are handing the next general election to Reform.

A Robin, singing at 3am next to a brightly lit lamp post on the way back to our car at the hospital. I imagine the poor chap doesn’t know whether it’s day or night. A hedgehog crossed our path and ran surprisingly quickly up a steep bank and into the woods which was lovely to see. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

I kind of don’t think it will help protect children much and my instinct is always not to comply. But, if it only prevents one child seeing something horrible or getting a DM from a groomer, I’ll do it. My photo is already out there anyway.
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
Kids in my experience are very good at overriding these kind of protections. But I suppose it might prevent some dodgy content turning up unexpectedly in their feed or someone dodgy DM’ing them through an app. 🤷🏼♀️
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
I think it’s so people who have not proved they are adults won’t be subject to the algorithms which push stuff at them. So kids won’t be exposed to dangerous or unsuitable content without actually searching for it. Not sure it will work though.

If we can’t ´single-handedly force an end to the conflict’, we urgently need to join forces with other nations. Stop waiting for the US to do what’s right. Because it won’t.

Localisation makes so much common sense to me. I’ve felt suspicious of the motives of government and multinationals for years. There is too much over complication and greenwashing. Their priority is always going to be financial gain rather than the benefit to ordinary people and the planet.
Louise Broad (@lou65broad.bsky.social) reply parent
I had to do that too and I agree it is a good quote. 🙂

I was thinking it would soon be time to cut the wild meadow’ area down but there are so many insects enjoying the flowers and grass seeds I think I will leave it a bit longer. Species (I think) in the alt text.
