"Some communities"? As a white, British man, my first thought when seeing someone flying/waving a St, George's flag outside of ceremony or sporting event is 'Another BNP/NF idiot'... (note, other words can be used instead of 'idiot')...
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
The groundwork has been set for any future President to basically do whatever they want with little or no consequences. Probability is your next President will be called Vance....
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
This wasn't him, not all of it is in capitals, and it's too short...
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Ha! My partner had been making up to me for weeks, eventually some mutual friends told me directly he was interested in me, so I asked... We have been together over 20 years now, and I still don't know why he puts up with me! :-)
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Sadly, the far right has taken possesion of the flag of St. George for about 50 years, from the BNP onwards. I remember them taking it from us, and being outraged, then watched the adults do nothing. It's my flag, but it is tainted forever.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
The USA's problem is, once Trump goes (if during his term), you will have a President who believes all that right wing stupidity but is competent enough to make it work...

They would both spend it on expert consultants to give them opinions, rather than actually spending it on anything useful...

Possibly the afterlife refuses to collect someone, couldn't really blame them...
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Quite agree! I still think this 'explosion of autism' is very much to do with more of us older people getting (very) late diagnosis, once we are all counted, it will flatten. Oh, better early diagnosis does affect it too.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh bother! How did I end up in the 'Older Adults' catergory, I'm not old, it's just that all the rest of you are getting younger! ;-)
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Be careful, you might get fired! ;-)
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
We tend to tell the truth, and expect others to do the same. We ask straightforward, direct questions, and expect an answer not deflection or waffle. Too many of us are successful for us to be dismissed now. No wonder they feel threatened!
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Probably yes, but it's so disorganised in there that I can't find any of them when I want...

Did they mention cosmic radiation, you know, the stuff our atmosphere protects us from, but which slowly kills us in space..?

Probably do a better job than most Reform councillors and MPs...
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
I like this take on it! We should push the fact St. George and the flag associated with him represents both England and Palestine, the dissonance this will set up in the minds of some would be well worth it!

All 12" sandwiches will have to be cut in half before serving, much less dangerous...

This is a definition of 'awesome': causing or inducing awe; inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, or fear. Think the last word is relevant here...

Could start with requiring all guns to be kept in gun safes, with regular unannounced inspection by police. If you can not store them safely, are you responsible enough to own them?
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
I remember years back seeing a news item on Dutch tv, interviewing a young lad about some traumatic event that had just happened to him. As a British person, I thought it very insensitive, but my Dutch friends saw it as normal.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Look up Autscape's website for something interesting! :-)
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Stay with it, it is worth it in the end, if for no other reason than the peace of mind which comes with knowing. Remember also you can join most autistic support groups before an official diagnosis, and being around others is amazing!
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
It takes time, effort and even money to obtain a diagnosis, no one would do it without good cause. Also, how much of the increase is due to late diagnosed adults being included? Once the backlog is cleared, we may see a drop in numbers.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
So guns can be banned in certain places? Is there any reason businesses couldn't do the same, using the same rational? Not US, so these things are a bit confusing for me.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
It does depend where you live, as in some places the police can be a good initial contact, and have training in mental health issues... However, in some countries they don't even have training in law enforcement...
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Russia is so technologically behind, their missiles can't be aimed properly so hit civilian and EU/British buildings, whereas the Ukrainian ones hit military infrastructure and military targets, so are better technologically... or is there another reason?
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
2030-31? Brexit has already messed up my retirement plans, and 5 to 15 years will probably be too late for me to start setting up again. Will never forgive the (words I do not regret but will not put here) who took us out in the face of the clear evidence.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social)
Out of interest, how many gang controlled areas have ICE or the National Guard gone into, and how many heavily armed, tattooed gang members have they arrested? I'm sure locals can direct them to known hangouts. Just asking....
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Tell them the gory and frankly ridiculous things that involve sex early enough, and the universal response will be 'eewwww, you gotta do what?!!!' and put them off for life...
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
The Parole Board, who are chosen to review parole applications, take all the evidence of current behaviour and decided they were not yet ready, as they continue to flout the rules. The Parole Board is there to keep everyone safe, unless there is good reason, don't second guess them.

Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Surely this means the Union will call a strike? Also, as Metro's legal team what their liability would be if a driver lets masked people pretending to be ICE onto the bus to abduct people?
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Interesting to use ChatGP that way, I do think we are good at using tools like this! I developed a personality, just be yourself they said! So I was, and now everyone tells me to put it away! ;-)

To be honest, I don't think NATO will expect the USA to respond to an Article 5 at this stage, and the rest of NATO has been preparing for an Article 5 without the USA.

Are we so insecure in our British or English identity that we have to wave flags? Was always seen as something only insecure foreigners do...
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
It goes even deeper, the tribalism that is in each and every one of us. How we deal with that is our own responsibility and choice.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
I resented the BNP (yes, I am old) when they hijacked my Country's flag, and resent all those who are doing the same now. A true British patriot views those who wave our flags as very suspect, except at sports matches, the Last Night of the Proms, leading the army, or for those under ten.

Wonder if she realises that if she has been released early, she could always be recalled to serve out her time...
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Of course they did, just as our military planners developed various plans in the other direction. It's called 'War Games', and all competent militarys do this to train their planning officers. You do it with your allies, as you know what their capabilities are better than you do your enemies.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
So the researchers say, as they watch an apparently unresponsive autistic child... meanwhile, the child is imagining a world of calm, and quiet, where vivid colours cover every surface, and all the rules are clear and make sense... We may not imagine what they want, but...

Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't get why your National Guard (these are each State's troops?) are not immediately brought out to help in these situations. They have manpower, equipment and training, so why not?
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
It's down to the individual how we view it - if it prevents us doing something, of course it's a disability, when it helps us write stunning code, or paint, or do anything else spectacularly well, it's not a disability in that area, but it is up to us, not them.
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent

Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Isn't firing missiles or sending troops into a different country without their backing an automatic Act of War? I may be being a bit slow on the uptake here, but it sure seems like it to me (and yes, I include all incidences, because I don't understand how it can not be).
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Their point is that the asylum seekers shouldn't be anywhere in the country, so shouldn't need anywhere to be. Totally against any Christian, ethical or moral values, as well as against international agreements, but since when has illogical hate needed reason?
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Taking on a 'fighting style' by poking fun at it and showing how daft it is... not sure that can be counted as 'taking it on'... Somehow, I get the impression certain people lack a sense of humour or understanding of satire?

Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
Hang on... you mean it's other States National Guard? Isn't that an invasion of State rights? Bit like China uses troops from out of area to put down dissent? Not US, so don't really understand this.

It's the 9% who follow the order that triggers the response and draws the other 91% into the conflict, at which point they have to fight to survive. The dictator relies on the 9% to start the fight.

Who would trust any guarantee the US gives today? They gave guarantees when Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons (as, shamefully, did my country), and look where that got them!
Tepic Harlequin (@tepicharliquin.bsky.social) reply parent
The Ukrainians were given unwavering security guarantees when they gave up their nuclear weapons, so why should the believe any given in the future? Give them NATO membership now, and tell Russia to get out.

OK, we just look for alternatives, or take it off the prescribable drugs list for the NHS, as we do for any drug thats cost is higher than the benefits it provides.
