I once took British Rail from Norwich to Glasgow. It was mostly an all-day affair, and we just planned for that. We had a wonderful time. That kind of journey is not really something you can do in the U.S. Well, maybe on the east coast.
I've driven from Portland to Phoenix a few times. It's doable, but you need to plan ahead.

We definitely plan on going back once we get some things from our move settled. From the PHX area, it's long enough that you feel the "staycation" vibes fully kick in, but really not too long of a car ride. Different environment being up at altitude, too.

We took Sophie to our favorite patio and played cribbage while we had lunch. She's been cooped up all summer and had NO IDEA how to act like a good girl while in public. The audacity of the table next to us ordering burgers w/o giving her snacks was her biggest affront.

Oh for sure. I was being as sarcastic as I could be. I honestly don't know how any manufacturing company could come up with a viable financial plan for the year, give meaningful investor guidance, secure loans, etc. It's madness.
His options are pretty slim. He's not a likely candidate for heart surgery. My bet is medication and bed rest to squeeze out a little more time. I'll also wager that we see him on a reduced schedule going forward, with him almost always sitting, and very little footage of him moving around.
