Owning and running a car has become a lot more expensive, so I’d imagine making the margins work as a ride share driver has become a lot more difficult. Delivery drivers as well.
Convenient things can be good, better even than alternatives (fast food can be healthy, and any food is generally better than starving), but it doesn’t necessarily follow that just because something is widely adopted because it’s convenient, that it must therefore be better.
I think you might be confusing ‘convenient’ with good. Fast food and ready meals are popular because they’re convenient, not because they’re good for us. Uber and Netflix models became popular because they’re more convenient, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve been a net positive to society.
As a counter-point to that argument, the whole reason chicken tikka masala was invented was to create a curry which would appeal to the British palette, using ingredients more readily available in the UK at the time. It’s like a British/Indian equivalent of Tex-Mex.
A similar chain of events which might lead to the same outcome would be if someone was kerb crawling, solicited an undercover policewoman, tried to flee the scene and was PIT manoeuvred by pursuing officers.

If it’s word for word identical then Google is either caching the response locally for you, or caching it more broadly for all users for a certain period. They do this with regular search results as well, to save on having to process fresh results every time.

Yes, I do. In the UK at least, variable speed limits are usually updated live in satnav systems, which ISA uses in combination with front facing cameras. And you’re much less likely to encounter them on city streets where speed limits tend to be permanent on most roads anyway.
