I think the portion of the public that reads and trusts the media narrative is a lot smaller than the narrative claims it is. I understand it's hard not to feel discouraged but this is a deeply unpopular government. When they reduce the public to a monolith they ignore the majority of it.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
oh no I've been vulgar and common how awful lol
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
I haven't had to give a shit about passing exams for decades and I'm not going to start now lol You don't actually have any authority over me here
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
You started off by telling me I'd failed. I think I just touched a nerve. Some people build their whole identity on being part of an us that's better/smarter than 'the public'.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
scolding people doesn't make them want to help you out hope this helps 🙂
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
🙄
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
You started off here with bad faith assumptions. I'm not seeking your approval. I do not require it.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
You evidently understood me enough to feel offended by what I said and respond by insulting me. What was it that bothered you so much?
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
Why assume I've failed?
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
this is hyper normalisation in action you're entirely unable to comprehend any possibility of anything real/true/valid existing outside of your norms and values they are your entire universe
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
I found a subreddit for the app and it's all 'creators', nobody talking about listening (though some people talking about stream counts being obviously bot boosted)
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
the 'success' is being the most streamed account on an AI music creation app and getting this article written
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
in your argument it does not count because the people you are doing it to have not 'earned' the right to be considered people
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
breaking people down on purpose in order to 'encourage' them to comply and obey and become part of your 'we'
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
You assume the only purpose of criticism is to shame and humiliate those considered inferior in order to encourage them to become superior. That's why politicians can criticise the people but the people can't criticise politicians. That's not constructive criticism. It is destructive.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
Blaming fascism on mental illness is blaming the Other for hatred of the Other. Liberal rationalism is eugenicist ideology.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social)
All of this
Aranock, 4 of Ravens (@aranock.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
Ive said this many times before will keep reiterating it, the "people with bad views are just insane" bullshit is sanist and actively lumps mentally ill people in with our oppressors just so people can feel better by pretending that there is something essentially different between them & shitty ppl.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
all of this thank you ❤️
Aranock, 4 of Ravens (@aranock.bsky.social) reposted
It actually makes me so infuriated that so many peoples analysis of violent eugenicists is to go "they're crazy" like you get that their goal is killing mentally ill people right? You get that thats an ahistorical and antiintellectual analysis that throws away actualyl examining them and their views

No. The theory provided a simple comforting narrative to those who wanted to dismiss the role of structural and systemic causes. But it doesn't work in practice.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
it feels right if you're only looking at it on a surface level and that's all that matters to some people
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
My reply directly relates to the preceding post. Pretending you're confused is silly.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
The implication is that the people who don't agree with all of this don't really count as people.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
You aren't criticising people constructively. You're just shaming and insulting them.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
I got food poisoning from a hot dog at a catered event in London it was horrific. Especially as my journey home was a three hour coach trip at 4am 😭
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, smug centrists should definitely stop trying to tell everyone on here that they're doing social media wrong and insisting that they need to spend more time on X to 'broaden' their horizons. It's getting really annoying.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
They would have been born on British territory. They would have been told they were British. You do know about the empire right?
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
I was talking about you. If you refuse to tolerate criticism and dissent then you are already an authoritarian. All that matters is defending the purity of your in group and hating and punishing the Other.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
No, the dispute is regarding precisely when and where in the UK it was invented. You've made assumptions based on very outdated stereotypes and refused to update them when presented with evidence that contradicts them.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
who is your us if it's not members of the public?
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
no they believe in the eugenicist ideology of the Enlightenment
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
they don't want purity to be tested because they think they've found it they need a hero to build a cosy narrative around and that's all that matters
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
as if the only possible purpose of criticism is to condemn someone to the Other and then kill them such a fucked up culture
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
pretty sure that it's that they see scams and bullying as cool and good actually they've been running their own for centuries
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
yeah they act like posh white people who love the monarchy are the only True Brits and nobody else really counts
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
it's unsettling because they are displaying more empathy towards the LLM than they are towards other human beings it takes a really fucked up culture to end up like that
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
It keeps happening when I disagree with them on here. They insist I must worship the royal family and that means I have no right to criticise anything anywhere else. As if it's impossible not to be a national supremacist.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
as with so many things the US perspective is based exclusively on the views of posh white people in the 19th century and nobody else
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
it's what happens if you make a mistake when you're applying for your curry license
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
it reminds me of how they will quite often just flat out refuse to believe that someone could be British and not support the monarchy. They've got their stereotype and nothing is allowed to contradict it.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
the USA overtook the UK as the imperial core after world war 2 that doesn't mean it's not connected the UK is chasing them down the drain as fast as possible ATM
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
This has really moved me. Thank you. My grandmother and great aunt were both institutionalised for significant periods of their lives and I feel like I'm only just starting to understand how that generational trauma has played into my own mental health struggles.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
It's a colonial mentality and ideology. It originated in Europe. It produced the USA.
r (@recombobulating.bsky.social) reply parent
It's this refusal of set theory where there cannot be any intersections or overlaps. British people are white and posh and love the monarchy and that's it.

Insisting it's not a political issue is normalisation. Identity monoliths are part of the problem.

so much western analysis of fascism is aimed at placing it with a foreign Other, rather than examining the systemic and structural roots in colonialism and classical liberalism.
