My grandkids had a unique opportunity to go to private school when public was failing and blaming them as bad. They were helped and got diagnosed. 2 have adhd and high functioning autism. They are not the rich kids. It costs. Its worth it. Some kids can't wait for public schools to do their job.

Well, you are right there. AI should pay royalties to all their sources then. But we all steal ideas from those before. That's how progress works. Every musician copies the artists who came before then adds their own spin. And other people like and listen, or they don't. If it's shit, it's shit.

I think the problem with all empires is that they take what they have for granted. They feel entitled to all the good things they have accumulated as if the fact they have them means they earned them fairly. They are the best. And they are not required to look within and be better. And fall.
I dunno. I am a shit musician but I love music. AI is a tool. Long ago, people could make sounds with their bodies and someone picked up a stick and hit something and liked the noise and now we make digital keyboards to play more sounds. AI allows the musically impaired to express their music, too.
Corporations exist to make money and make money for investors. That's all. Corporations have no feelings. They limit personal liability and accountability. Profits first above all else. This is unfettered capitalism. Capitalists are not the good guys. Socialism is not the bad guy.
First, maybe consider what you mean by "freedom". Maybe "freedom" is not a particularly good goal. It is vague and means very different things to different people. Trump has had a great deal of freedom. Others, not so much.
Canada is deluged with American media - ours is mostly owned by Americans. We just don't eat it up en masse. We are heavily tainted by American Christianity/capitalist greed too. But we are also more educated. And being multicultural, we have other news sources and hear other sides.

Carney was the right choice for Canada. But let's not give him carte blanche. He will make mistakes. He is human. We are living in dangerous, complex times. We will be caught between rocks and hard places. We will need to make wise compromises. Compromises can never be ideal no matter what.
American culture is like this: God blesses his favorites with the good things. If you don't have the good things, its because you don't deserve it and you don't matter because you belong to Satan and deserve the fires of hell. If you are blessed, you are good, even if you did bad things to get it.
I am not generally in favour of "the man" myself for many reasons. I don't actually have the knowledge to know if this or that project is beneficial overall either. But - there are def hoops to jump through. If a project gets the green light, I wouldn't want an amateur in charge. That's all.
I am no expert and know little in the vastness of knowledge out there. I won't agree with all his policies for certain. But given our choices for Prime Minister, Carney is THE MAN. And yes, he is also The Man. He is all business. I have managed small projects. We need an expert for big ones.

One of my kids nearly died 40 years ago from a vaccine reaction. So he didn't get that vaccine again. And got sick when the disease went around the unvaxxed. My other kids did not get sick because they were vaccinated as doctors recommended. His kid is fully vaccinated. The risk is worth it.
