Most white Americans, regardless of status, have been somewhat conditioned to believe that those jobs should be done by people of color.
The workers are grossly underpaid for the hard labor they do. They deserve more appreciation & to be treated well. Many in Southern states voted for a 🇷🇺MAGA platform on a position of hate and bigotry or did not vote. Now we all have to suffer the buffoonery of trump. Kick trump out.
Totally believable. I had a colleague who lasted one day picking cotton before going back to college.
Someone is going to have to grab their pitchforks and go down to DC - 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Seems like the people who put him IN there, need to take him OUT of there.
It hard to not wish that those Trump supporting farmers lose everything they have because people tried to tell them this was going to happen. They took advantage of those immigrants paying them so little and their vote for Trump took their workers away. It will only get worse. They deserve it!
Alabama pokes itself in the eye. youtube.com/shorts/b2o4f...
Shows the VAST difference in work ethic too. Coordinated team work vs everyone for themselves. One of these works WAY better and it ain't the one US people use
Yeah 😂. Those wipeepo will be on that roof for a month!
And that shit SUCKS! 🤣 I've done roofing with a Mexican team. It's a fuckin work out for sure but gets done right and fast every time Also landscaping, warehousing, junk removal. I've been the lone white dude at so many jobs and I'm thankful for that. Taught me A LOT
LOL! My neighbor just had their roof replaced yesterday. In one day it was done. By some skilled Brown folks who spoke Spanish. You want to waste money & time dealing with crews that don’t show up bc they think it’s beneath them to be out in this heat? Hire a ⚪️ crew.
Same here! I had to have my roof replaced about five years ago. I used a local company, and their crew was Hispanic. They didn’t speak English, but they were nice guys. Very hard-working. Did a beautiful job! Done in one day!
When I notice Latino roofers in my are, I used to shout up to them, en español, to turn up the music! Not anymore. Drones are searching for the cleanest, best organized roofers, for bounty. Many Latino roofers are migrants because it's well paid work that moves around from tornado to tornado.
I’ve known a lot of immigrants in my life. I lived in South Texas when my daughter was born. I’ll never forget her first babysitter, Carmelita. She loved my daughter like she was one of her own children! I always knew she was well cared for.
Not fit enough? Look at the size of the farmers! They're fatter than two grown pigs! You magats got exactly what you voted for! Pick your own f-ing crops! Get some of those fat ass toothless magats to help! Maybe ICE will come and help! They have bunch's of fatass's that could use some exercise!
Maybe, just maybe, Farmers paying a decent wage would help. Why should 'immigrants' be expected to work for less? Same in UK now, post Brexshit.
Fat MAGAts voted for this, then complain cause they can't harvest after their best workers r gone. They & their fat, stupid, inbred families should hit the fields. Will do them good!
Not "won't do", "can't do!" There's a difference.
Maybe tRUMP will demand the presidential fitness test for workers now, too? Lol. That fat fuck wouldn't even be able to sign a new executive order.
Bahahahs I LOVE that for them! 🥰
They’re lazy. That’s what happens when they relied on slavery and Hispanics their whole lives. Someone teach these white boys what work is.
We have the same in Canada. It's not about race. It's about exploitation wages.
Which is about race, and gender in the US.
To a point. Keep in mind, though, that 44% of workers in this country are not paid a living wage regardless of race or gender. We haven't had a minimum wage increase since 2009. The cost of living has gone up more than 300% since 1980 while wages have only increased 24% in the same period.
The deck is stacked against the worker by design. Thank Republicans.
Absolutely.
They say the same thing up here. It's not true, though. It's about exploitation. Not wanting to do the work for the pay offered has nothing to do with race.
$100 an hour would solve that. I love buying tomatoes at $20 per pound.
How can this be? What about white supremacy??? 🙄
You would be shocked at how many lazy and overweight people are in Alabama and they are white, and the crazy part is those same people throw off on minorities for not having a job, and most minorities I know, work very very hard
We are all SHOCKED I tell you. Who could have guessed this????
Said no one....EVER!
I was being sarcastic!
...and I support that. You can never have too much snark!
So what have we learned? Facts in evidence denied by those with an agenda are still facts. No matter how many masked men show up. Getting tough on immigration with no real plan or the wrong plan is just destruction for the sake of destruction.
The goal of Project 2025 is to burn the entire damn system to the ground and build a theocratic, authoritarian one in its place. Things are going exactly as planned.
No lie detected.
Just out of curiosity, is this based on an eight hour day? If so, that would be 9.38-12.50 an hour. For a ten hour day (more like a farm day) it would be 7.50-10.00 an hour. What are the actual wages for these jobs? Are there benefits? Taxes paid?
Totally agree! Back in the 90s DeKalb was hitting our schools hard for "workers" ten hour days, $3.25 an hour that was taxed. Talk about cheap labor.
Wages vary. It frequently depends on the crop. Sometimes you're paid by the hour. Sometimes you're paid by the piece. Sometimes you're paid by the bushel. Sometimes you're paid by the field. Regardless of the method of determining payment, they aren't paid enough.
We should be applauding the people who help bring food to our tables every day.
Absolutely! We should welcome them with open arms, pay them a decent wage, require them to be provided with decent housing, and support them socially.
Amen. And why aren’t we demanding that the USD subsidize building safe housing instead of the shanty towns some farmers cobble together?
I knew of a farm in FL that housed immigrants in mobile homes with no air conditioning. "They work in the heat and sun all day. They don't need (read: deserve) it."
Yeah. The callousness of some farmers to the people they depend on to keep the farm running is horrifying. And the stories of SA by American Field overseers on women are rife as well. We have to do better.
Overseers have been SAing women since the days of slavery. I wish I could say I was surprised.....but nope.
Unfortunately, neither am I.
It’s honestly infuriating. I’m here in Los Angeles. Our city/state economies run on the labor of undocumented people. But the cruelty these folks risk getting here and living here are horrible- and unless we accept this & make the immigration process easier, cheaper, safer? We can’t stop the abuse.
No benefits. Taxable wages @ $4.79/hour.
Unreal. Thank you.
It is a ‘Use them and then when they break it is someone else’s problem scheme’ . They are not there yet completely but Trump is working on it.
I love that not one of these MURICAN farmers has the physical fitness they require of migrant laborers that they pay $70 a day, while they complain about how lazy OTHER Americans are.
Lmfao
Well fitness takes time
I bet they paid the hard working immigrants the bare minimum too. Karma has no deadline! 😉
Who’d a thought it?! 🤔🙄😂 Especially looking at the boss men. Guess they’re going to have pick their own crops and maybe coerce their entitled little white children to get off their fat asses and help out, too. Just saying…sorry…so NOT sorry for them. FAFO
i thought america is filled with tough white guys who are not afraid of manual work?
I guess whitey white boy just can’t cut it.
Good to see some realism creeping into the news. Here's one result of the issue discussed: bsky.app/profile/carl...
It is highly ironic that the entitled, racist, misogynist, white supremacist traitors who voted Trump are so terrified of hard working immigrants. The lard ass Trump supporters are in fact the biggest problem facing the USA, second only to the oligarchs in their evil sub-humanity.
Body shaming is discrimination. When you call one overweight person a lard ass, you're calling us all lard asses. Try being better.
"American workers not mentally or physically fit enough." 😲 What are you saying???
...to be abused out in the hot sun, exposed to aerial spraying of pesticides, no healthcare?
Is ANYONE surprised? Please respond if you are.
But….. they took the jobs. Are you great yet Republikkkans?!
They asked for it. 🍅
We knew this was going to be the case all along!!!
Honestly, as much as I'd like to see the folks who voted for Trump and put themselves in this position with their vote ... the Democrats need to take advantage and pitch good policies to them so they can keep their farms, livelihoods, and homes.
They were pitched. They chose the racism
“ kneeling down and bending over”, if these skills are a pre-requisite, most trump supporters should excel at these jobs 🤡
Mental midgets reside in that state. Should never be allowed to vote!
Guess their labor is more skilled they people think. 🤔Like essential workers maybe? Look at this way America has an obesity problem so going hungry for a while might be a good thing. Maybe think about how ungrateful you’ve been while you look at those empty grocery shelves & the only food costs $$$
That's right. Pit us against each other instead of blaming the greedy mother fucking oligarchs causing the vest wealth inequity we see in this country. You're acting like we're all the same. We aren't. My grandparents were sharecroppers. I've never been ungrateful for food.
So, why the hell are these farmers voting for Republicans? Why will they still vote for Republicans?
Because Republicans hate the same things they do -- helping the less fortunate, paying a living wage to essential workers and everyone else, treating people of color the same as they do white people, and tolerating people who aren't just like them.
I’m figuring they’re trying to hold on until they start getting the slave laborers from the camps.
They won't be thrilled with that, either, because those people aren't physically or mentally prepared to work under those brutal conditions, either.
The farmers I’ve known aren’t thrilled by much anyway.
This is the actual answer.
FAFO.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🤯🤯🤯
Immigrants have never been taking jobs away from Americans. Americans are unwilling to work these unskilled, low wage, physically demanding jobs🙄
There's no such thing as unskilled labor.
Exactly. The whole point of the video is that you have to have skills to hack it in the job.
Poorly educated. If they'd only been able to read and know where the UK was, they'd have seen what happened after Brexit. The unemployed English did not turn up in droves at the farmers' gates, and the handfuls that did, didn't stay. Crop picking is a back breaking skill.
Yes. Remember during the first lockdown the farmers did this big campaign along the lines of ‘be patriotic and come and pick’ - I heard an interview with the organizers that about 50 Brits turned up and a week later one remained 🤣😂
It's a vicious decline. The foreign workers leave (or, in the USA, get deported). Crops rot because of the scarcity of workers. Farmers plant less - to match their picking teams. More food has to be imported. Prices go up. Oh yes, and in the USA, add the tariffs 😳 So much WINNING EVERYWHERE.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Gee. Who could’ve seen that coming???
yeah, it's like we predicted this would be the case
9.9 Unemployment rate??????? when is this from? come on we need accurate timely news...
Dumbasses will finally get what they deserve. Screw you Mr. Abaddon, (small handed freak). You’re loitering in our White House but that’s not the place you and Melanoma belong.
wait... so this story is saying that we're actually under appreciating how difficult it actually is to harvest food? Wow, i thought it was just done by drones, whose bodies are made of metal and never get tired. Who would have guessed? 🤔🤷♂️ /sarc/
Hahaha. Yes, the consumer will pay more IF tomatoes are even available. Yes. Farmers will go bankrupt. You folks were warned. We said if you don't believe us, do your own research. You didn't, did ya? Too busy looking for bs ways to own the libs (yeah, we planted veggie gardens just in case.)
Yes, I think growing your own vegie gardens & planting fruit trees & bushes is critical. Its manageable for a couple or small family & will feed them. Between climate change/draught and farm fields failing, its everyone's best bet. Bartering between neighbours to trade picked produce? Priceless 👍
Alabama voted red. Get your fat asses out there and work those fields. Put your action where your ballet hit!
If only someone could have seen this coming... 🤔
Tough shit. Get out there you lazy non immigrants 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻
This farmer doesn't have much room to talk....
If the talking head didn't narrate, I'd have no idea what these people are saying. I do know that despite their tales of woe, they will vote repeatedly for the people who put them in this position. They're impaired.
Not surprised!
Yokels! I know it may sound offensive, but I am willing to take anyone on that this isn’t the case. Same here in the UK with Brexit. Basic intelligence isn’t preordained or gifted at birth. Well, it isn’t generally… demographics and upbringing are paramount for at least a normal functionality. 🤷🏻♂️
After all, ours came from the UK…
These maga geniuses are the same ones who re-elected a felon with 6 bankruptcies citing “the economy” as his strongest suit. Yipes.
If you think grocery prices are high now, wait until January.....
aww but Mr. MAGA-voter, I thought all (or most) Latino immigrants were lazy, criminals?!?
I think the blue states need to leave the union and start their own country. We, in Blue America will have decency, human rights, a thriving economy, fruit, and vegetables. Red America will have these people.
I agree 100%
Meet MAGA. “Not mentally tough enough” to harvest tomatoes.
Um-hum, this is just after one day!? But immigrants are the weak and lazy ones, huh? 🤣
Who stole the jobs they can’t do. 😆
Right!! 🤣🤣🤣
I would also add that it is a hard job. Repetitive work is challenging, especially when you’re bending and crouching, in the sun, with the insects and thorns, while constantly pushing yourself to work faster so you can survive.
Yes, it is skilled labor.
I would go as far as to call it highly skilled labor.
You think that "farmer" was in good shape?
www.theblaze.com/news/job-app...
Robotics
These goobers knew this would happen. It’s not a surprise to anyone in farming
Yep. Now produce is going up thanks to Trump
Hindsight is 20/20 and bankruptcy, welfare, and homelessness isn't anything to look forward to, but these fools support Trump, so crashing and burning is in their blood.
Their guy is removing any welfare anyway and I absolutely wish bankruptcy and homelessness on all Trump voters.
Postbellum lesson taught. Nobody listened? You go back, Jack. Do it again.
They’re positioning sending kids out there by closing schools and colleges
Any of you dip shits work in the fields before? I did as a kid and it is damned hard work. Most can’t hack it, you will lose weight though 🤭😆🙄
I did chickn pickn' in high-school. Very hard work. Not a job for the lazy. 10 pm to 4am, then school. But they paid us well. Pay well, the people will work! Pay has always been the issue!
Yikes that sounds like hard work
Horrible.
I'm 57 and worked tobacco fields when I was 12 along with most of the other kids where I live. Only migrant workers do that work now and it's been that way over 30 years.
Isn’t that amazing Wes? All of the kids where I grew up worked in the fields in the summer. My siblings worked in the fruit orchards. It’s what you did.
I don’t remember questioning working. It was a given that when you reached a certain age you were working. We had 10 times the amount of farmers in the 1970s as we do now. I think only two people in our county farm tobacco now. We lease our land to one of them.
Yep, yep, yep 👊🏻
My late husband's aunt and uncle had a tobacco farm in Western Mass. Jim worked there summers in h.s. and college. In the late 60's they converted the farm to a golf course. Still hard work, but not as grueling as tobacco farming!
Thanks for sharing Maureen. Hard work huh 👊🏻
That's for sure. I'd get tired just hearing about it!
That’s a big shift over the years. It really shows how much the labor landscape has changed, especially in agriculture. Those early experiences must have taught you a lot about hard work.
It sure is a big shift. It was ‘expected’ that everyone worked in the fields and it taught me you go to work no matter what. I’m back in that mindset now and could have taken this week off with pay, but I wanted to work. Have a great day Susan
I picked fruit. We were very poor and it was a way to make some money. We got paid by how many quarts we picked. It was very hard work. But I was used to working hard because I had to do what I had to do to make any sort of money growing up. Most people won’t do it!
Yes and just like a fella said earlier, it’s what we did. Thanks for sharing.
1981 I picked rock in a corn field in exchange for the use of the farmer’s washing machine
Me too. I'd love to see how long they would last in a cornfield. Picking and shucking.
Well I topped corn in corn fields back in the day. There weren’t picking or shucking days. Where did you do that?
In one Ohio farm, there are No tassels on the corn stalks!Due to something I don’t remember. But all the acres need to be tilled - maybe stalks used for something else. 🤷♀️
When topping corn the tassels are pulled out. That’s topping corn. Then you don’t remove the tassel on the 5th row which is called the bull row. Bees pollinate the bull row.
I can tell you’re an expert on growing corn. Thanks for the much appreciated info. Me? just a simple woman merely reporting about a farm with corn stalks having no tassels - could have been from too much rain. Thanks
Oh I don’t know about that. It’s something one would not forget.
I'm a simple woman, but I can grow some mean wildflowers! 😍
LOL Betcha your flowers are beautiful! 💐🌷🌻🌸 Actually I grow dried flowers - not intentionally!
They are beautiful, but admittedly I use a mix that is very easy to use.
Oh please tell me about it! I need the Help.
You've definitely been on a farm.
Indiana
Shocking.
Assholes are.
Rich assholes have convinced poor assholes it's okay to be assholes. It benefits the wealthy to have us fighting each other, because then we're not focusing on how badly they're ripping us off in order to enrich their own lives.
Philanthropy is the rich and wealthy picking winners and losers Never forget that! If U were paid a wage where U could feed UR family house UR family school UR children & possibly even afford a vacation a year then philanthropy would not be such a requirement in the United States #PurgeTheRich
And, if you look at it in perspective, the poor give more to charity based on percentage of income than oligarchs and the rest of the 10%. If someone worth $50 million drops a million bucks off at some charity, they won't even miss it. Poor people are more likely to share what little they have.
I don't eat directly to St jude. One thing I'll never do is donate at the register because that is a tax write-off for the company whether it be Target Walmart whoever they're using your free dollars for a tax write-off so it's in it's 100% income for them. It's a corporate scam
I followed you back. I spent around 22 years living in Michigan -- Oscoda (twice), Saginaw for about 6 months, Marquette, and Kalamazoo. Nice to meet another Michigander!
West Michigan here. Live in the 2nd largest city in Michigan
Not far from Kazoo! I went to KVCC for nursing school many years ago. I attended most of elementary school and a year of high school in Oscoda (Air Force brat), and graduated from Marquette Senior High School. In between, we lived in Germany, so I went to a school on base.
Wow that sounds exciting 😊 I graduated Ferris State moved to GR got a second degree in IT and now I'm retired working for the state of Michigan. It's been a good life until Trump. And I mean that 😡
Absolutely, I absolutely agree. Rich people donate to charity philanthropy for a tax write-off it's purely a selfish act. Poor people donate the tax break is not existent because it's a high $ bar to even start getting that break. I find that a lot of people donate gofundme reaching who needs it
Yes, they would ideally like to see us all punching down. As Dana Carvey playing George W once said, “Na ga da” (He was actually saying “not gonna do it, but pronounced it as “na ga da”) 😂
youtu.be/pD_eZg70Ms0?...
Does that mean unfit and lazy?
Farm labor is skilled labor.
Well duh, if only people thought about the rhetoric rather than swallowing it in spoonfuls
That farmer could get out there and do it
During the depression people went from farms all over the USA working to get the crops in! That’s where they are sending us back to those days!
“The Grapes of Wrath” John Steinbeck
Now that really is my favorite movie. It reminds of family, they looked just like that in movie.
That was in the 60's. They looked like that, poor hardworking people.
The book was written and portrayed conditions in the 1930s during the Great Depression. The film 🎥 was made in 1940.
The book was published in 1939.
Dad was born in 1930.
He must have experienced and seen some unforgettable things? Mine was born in 1935 and his folks moved a lot chasing down work and a better life. They ended up settling in Los Angeles and WWII put everyone to work one way or another.
Mine was born in 1928. My mom was born in 1933. Their parents were sharecroppers in South Carolina. They saw some things for sure. People of means in that area despised poor white people just as much as poor black people -- if not more. They thought poor white people were unmotivated and lazy.
My dad told me he had to quit school, eighth grade his last, cause his family had to work. They followed the wheat harvest. His dad was a bootlegger when not following harvest.
I don’t think that was uncommon during hard times 😢? It was a very hard time and life. I wonder if we’re going to end up hitting the old road again like back in the 1930s?
Woody Guthrie wrote the History of the Depression in his lyrics. I hope the master recordings, collected by the Smithsonian are safe. They are the wokest of woke. He really will destroy the art, literature, music, and culture he doesn't like. Hitler did exactly the same thing.
My dad told me he had to quit school, eighth grade his last, cause his family had to work. They followed the wheat harvest. His dad was a bootlegger when not following harvest.
My mother's family survived the Depression bootlegging. Quite a few did. A 12 year old great uncle was a "bag boy" for the East Chicago mob. That was the Serbian side. The Belgian side is much less interesting.
Yep the dust bowl of Kansas and Oklahoma! A lot of people lost their homes or ranches! They had to pack everything up and travel to find work! They became migrants!
And that's where he wants to take us. He wants to take us back in time before civil rights, women's rights, climate interventions--you know the list.
Yes it’s about control and the only people who had control at that time was wealthy corporations! William Boeing, Walter Chrysler, Joseph Kennedy Sr,Paul Getty,Mae West,Charles Clinton Spaulding,Michael Cullen,Howard Hughes! This is who survived the Great Depression!
I don't want to repeat that, even though I wasn't there the first time.
No we don’t! Hunger and homelessness is not good
Back to the future?
That's what TACO47 calls making America great again. Going back to the depression days.
Most people cannot endure a hard days work. Most people can’t even endure just sitting outside all day much less working in it lol
It will rot, most people are too fucking lazy.
Nobody should have to work their guts out from any country to earn a liveable wage
Imagine my surprise...
9.9 % unemployment rate ‼️‼️‼️. Won’t hear THAT on mainstream media ‼️‼️‼️‼️
I’ve been saying this since before the new millennium. maga you’re up, to fill the field work !!!
FAFO
There's a good reason why ag work has always been done by those on the lowest rungs of society. Georgia found out a few years ago when they tried the same stuff there and lost most of their peach pickers.
Reminds me of something my mother used to say about not shitting in one's mess kit.
That old guy picking tomatoes isn’t going to last. That’s why you need to help immigrants apply for citizenship under easier, respectful, and humane conditions. Arrest the real felon rapist criminal in the WH. #EpsteinFiles
@jvl.bsky.social sharing good news with comrades
Mental and physical conditioning. Uh huh. Let’s hope those Americans are not on Medicaid.
Yeah, I have tried picking produce and it's the most back-breaking job I have ever done. And I didn't even do it for 8 hours, let alone 10. Moving the sprinklers was completely out of my depth too. I've had more respect for ag workers than I ever have of presidents (mostly the current one).
The MAGAt vision: Step 1: Round up working immigrants and place in labor camps. Step 2: Highlight struggles of migrant dependent businesses. Step 3: “Sell/rent” imprisoned migrants back at slave rates. We’re just entering step 2. Watch this space.
Please don't let this be true. Hell might as well annex America now.
Agreed
In one of the least healthy states in the nation…DUHHHHHHHHH!
He could skip a few meals and pick the crops himself?
Probably his whole family!
Body shaming is discrimination. There are overweight Democrats, too -- as well as socialists, communist libertarians, independents, green party members, and others.
I picked tomatoes and strawberries during the summer as a kid. It’s grueling work. I don’t know a single person who would do it. We should be thanking migrants not terrorizing them.
We pick wild low bush blueberries for fun, and even the kids get wiped out after several hours!
We used to do that when we lived in Michigan. It would take three of us several hours to fill up one of those big Tupperware mixing bowls. They made awesome jam, though.
American MAGAs talk the biggest, but Americans r First 2 wimp out when the going gets tough. On the one hand they look down on the brown ppl who do field work, & love 2 see them brutally deported, but at the same time they refuse 2 do it cuz it's not easy. So what then, no more farms here? Bravo.
The collectivization of farming is underway, comrade. Old Soviet joke: What is 200 meters long and eats potatoes? Muscovites on line for meat.
Socialists won't be happy until we're all eating from the same tin plate. But today's socialists are hooked like mad on all the cool tech tools and toys made possible only by BIG CAPITALIST PROFITS. What's wrong with this pic?
What happened to American exceptionalism??
They’re exceptionally fat and out of shape both mentally and physically…apparently. 😂🤣😂
Sounds like what good people have been saying all along. We help each other.
Alabama used to have folks do this for free and at least 35% of current Alabamans long for those days.
Good. I want to see bankruptcy in every red agricultural state starting with Florida and Texas. I want to see massive farm foreclosures. I want to see jimmy joe bubba holding up will work for food signed in Walmart parking lots and go fund me accounts I can troll.
So do big ag oligarchs. Buy the rest of the farms and set the prices we have to pay to live.
Why not? Trump doesn't need there votes or money any more they were just useful idiots. Plot twist: the corporate farms will use all illegal immigrant labor and no one will touch them! Bwahahahah!! MAGAs are the easyist people in history to screw over! And there's always more!
Instead of punishing the migrants, punish the corporation that use them. Use the asset forfeiture laws we currently use for drug trafficking and enterprise corruption. The corporation gets everything seized just like the drug traffickers lose all the ill gotten gains from their illegal activity
One born every second, I've heard.
Feds always bail out farmers. Bigger the farm, bigger the bailout.
Farm subsidies are cut in the big beautiful bill. Last time they used tariff money. Bailouts can’t be sustained.
When is this video from? AL unemployment is currently 3.2% It doesn’t help our cause to post inaccurate info
You’re absolutely right. @thetnholler.bsky.social should have checked this one. A simple search of AP News’ website shows it’s from 2011. 👎🏻
The content isn’t wrong or and is relevant, but we have to stay true
I'm sure this happens in a vacuum too. Sucks for those farmers in particular but we're fine 🎉
Alabama!! Didn’t they invent the term AYCE?
That’s been known for years. Just not by your useless lawmakers.
I'd like to see these farmers do the work they say Americans aren't fit enough to do. I dont disagree with them, but, you know, lead by example and such. Show em' how its done there, Clyde.
Where I grew up, in rural Lincolnshire in the UK, there was a very firm division between "farmers" and those who actually worked the land.
Working farmer in Lincs says hi!!!
Daffodils, Cabbages and Caulis? Fens?
Got it in one!!
That's fair. I grew up in rural Illinois, where farmers didn't use field labor, probably because the crops didn't call for it. They worked their own acreage with machines, and all had multiple daughters around my age who could also work those machines. Man, I miss farming with the neighbors.
Much of the land round me was divided into 500+ acre farms, often heading to 1000+. I think I can count on one finger that number of small/tenant farmers I knew.
We had labour agencies (gangmasters) who had permanent recruitment offices in Poland, the Balts, Hungary and Czech Republic.
Whereabouts in Lincs? I grew up in Skeg then near Spilsby in the ‘70, the first paid work I ever did was a few days on a potato harvester on a friend’s uncle’s farm.
That was more in-the-family, but a couple of years later in money troubles my mother (whose usual occasional gig was substitute-teaching Latin or Greek) & I answered a call for pea-pickers on a local farm: that was piece-work, and we did not do well.
Near Sleaford.
Home of the Mods!
JFC! They proved this in the '60s. Republicans have NO LONG TERM MEMORY, and they IGNORE HISTORY! Republicans think ALL HISTORY IS A LIE. Now those MFing MORONS are indentured to a dictator who will ignore THEM TOO!
When you grow up on a farm you have no problem doing the work. The mind and body is already in condition to do the labor. Problem is, the farmer is only one person and needs whole crews that are in shape to do it.
If anyone is surprised at this they never went to a pick-your-own farm. It's fun, for about 10 minutes and then the novelty wears off and it's hot, boring, and a strain. I want to see that POS Tom Homan pick strawberries for a month. He'd be in a hospital with heat stroke after day 1.
This would be a fitting punishment for Homan, Noem, & all of the “agents” who participated in the deportations esp of American citizens and violated the due process of every immigrant. They should have to work the jobs the immigrants had for at least a month and the pay forfeited to the immigrants
Hegseth would be great at it being that he can do all those push-ups he brags about.
I am pretty sure Kegseth will be too sodden to get through more than a day. But he can benefit from forced drying out
Yeah my family had a massive vegetable garden growing up. It is hot, backbreaking work.
Looks like the only work the farmers do is carrying their obese bodies from bed to pickup truck.
100 bucks these farmers voted for Trump. Pick your own fucking fields fuckfaces. Sold us all out because you're racists and dumb. Oh fucking well.
I'm not sure either one of those fat fuck farmers could pick their crop all day either.
Careful what you wish for.
FAFO folks .... FAFO!
Is this why they’re pushing “slavery really wasn’t that bad after all”
The f*cking governor of my state used language, stating that "slaves learned useful skills." That fat go go boots wearing scum needs to learn a few useful skills. Toss him into Florida Auschwitz along with his wife.
Or CECOT. Just sayin'. 😁 #ReleasetheEpsteinFilesNOW #DeportIncelNAZIElmoLush #JailtheOrangePustule/BillionairesinCECOT #$ubprimeCourtReformsNOW
Yes.
Yep. Next, these ghouls will screech 'Education isn't necessary!. Put your child to work in the plants and the fields.' Then they'll arrest whatever warm body the can and put the life-sentenced incarcerated into the fields in chain gangs. Welcome to the repulsives, magats, evilgenitals wet dream.
might wanna mention that the video is from 2011. the situation may be similar, but this makes it look like it's related to recent events, which it isn't
That's exactly what I thought - ty.
This should be top comment.
I remember the 2011 debacle. Most farm and chicken processing workers that didn't have green cards left the state and went to adjoining states until the policy was quietly dropped. Now, there's no safe state to go to....
Thank you for this info.
Ha! There you go Trump u fucking moron.
OH NO! You👏MAGAts 👏voted👏 for👏 this, so, enjoy your bankruptcy.
No sympathy to Alabama from me, absolutely none. Tough shit, suck it up, you asked for it.
Why is it I think it's not the immigrants that are the problem?
Um, why don't they take all their precious arms & threaten and/or pew!! all that produce. I mean, that's their solution for everything, right?🙄 Not mentally or physically for enough to last one day?! That can't be right, they're all Alphas, aren't they?🙄
Idiot GOP… you are harming your people! Did they vote for this? Maybe they will Vote you out!! Watch what happens when you harm America and her people!
And this would be the ‘finding out’ phase. Day without a Mexican you maga pussies. How ya like it NOW????
Physical and mental conditioning are required? Alabama is around 5th in obesity and around 5th last in education. They have no chance. The South will never rise again. Get ready for food shortages.
One point above the national average? Trump will fix those statistics.
It’s almost like we fucking said this would happen. Anyways, when this is all over, I hope we get comprehensive immigration reform such that the people coming here to work those hard jobs can negotiate their salaries without the threat of deportation hanging around their necks.
Who would have thunk it 🤔
How ironic that the giant overweight farmer is complaining that his new farm hands aren’t in good enough shape to do the work! Clearly from the looks of him he has been relying too heavily upon his immigrant workers for years and is in no shape to work his own farm!
Got just a little to comfortable in his entitlement....
Absolutely
This is a fact, therefore it will not matter to taco or his minions. Get ready for a lot of unfit people working in the fields in order to get Medicaid etc. Yes, they’ll be slow, yes the crops will rot, but taco is making the libs cry!
Is this actually a surprise to anyone?
1. Immigrants were being exploited. 2. American workers don’t want those jobs. 3. American workers never did want those jobs. 4. American workers never will want those jobs. 5. Anyone who didn’t see the built-in problem with removing the immigrant workers was blind, blinkered & bewildered.
Absolutely to what you said except- once it hits crisis level they’ll have an excuse to force inmates and other “undesirables” to work (exploit). Maybe work release for immigrants from our government sponsored concentration camps, where now they’ll make pennies to do the same work.
This isn’t going to make them reverse their policies, it is just going to give them new ways to be terrible. :(
Nothing will make them change their policies as long as they’re in office. They’ve got a taste of power & they’ll not give it up.
... and racist.
Also true, but I was out of space.
Good! More people should lose everything for supporting Trump.
Bingo 👀
Tomato tomoto. Potato patato.
So, basucally, migrants are some kind of physically superior suoermen.
Fuck them! Let them go broke!
Lol
Nothing is more appealing than low pay, long hours and abuse by your employer.
Dude looks like he’s been watching people pick his crops for a while.
It’s emotion vs logic and only emotion can change a conservative’s opinion of anything
Fox is 100% raw emotion.
So what Alabama farmers are saying is that the work is ACTUALLY HIGHLY SKILLED work and should be recognized for the skills needed to do the job that Americans clearly can NOT do well? That those workers should be paid better and have better working conditions and benefits?
They can stay because I can exploit them!
The last guy says it all. They love the brown people when they can exploit their cheap labor. FFS our world is a festering sore.
I am surprised, said no one.
Americans are the laziest human beings on the planet. Either you agree or you’re lying to yourself.
You got me thinking of the movie Wall-E.
Very ahead of itself but spot on.
They tried hiring American's before, young athletes that had the build and it failed miserably When The U.S. Government Tried To Replace Migrant Farmworkers With High Schoolers : The Salt : NPR share.google/JZelCz88YlMO...
Hey cool cool there’s not enough hatred for Americans on SM, you’re doing good work, keep it up! 👏👏👏
I understand your reaction and I sometimes bristle at those type of commentaries too. It’s not everyone and it’s certainly most prevalent in white America but I’ve seen a lurch toward absolute sedentary laziness for years now. I’m not trying to spread a vibe or propaganda. Just observation.
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I was reading a book on consciousness recently & it talked about what we call lazy. Basically there’s a brain process that pushes laziness bc if we didn’t have a desire to conserve energy we’d burn more calories than we put in. I think as Americans we are
Of course! It’s always dangerous to make blanket statements like that and I sincerely understand the hurdles people face. I’ve been fortunate in my life and at the same time, I’m fairly lazy. I realize my privilege as a straight white American male. No question.
…stressed physically, mentally, & emotionally & it keeps us stuck a lot of the time, covid exacerbated these tendencies & we isolate more, take less social risks, depression abounds. Not denying or excusing laziness, just suggesting it may stem from a mass depression masquerading as rat race fatigue
Absolutely. We have failed as a society. We’ve succeeded at # of guns per capita, # of incarcerated per capita, and an overall middle of the road level of happiness. We are not the greatest country in the world. Not now. Not before.
I was just lying down, thanks
There are people working multiple jobs to feed their families that would beg to differ. We also get a lot less paid time off than many other countries. www.bls.gov/news.release...
There are. I’ve been one of them and I totally respect all of those people. It was a generalization that isn’t fair to a lot of people. White American men are the laziest fuckers. As a clarification.
It's also about pay rate. Same issue in Canada. You'll get anybody to do anything if you pay enough, but if all you're willing to pay is exploitively low wages you'll really only get the exploitable applying.
That’s a great and fair point. I completely agree. But I’ve been on the hiring side of jobs paying $70-$100K and people balking at the basic work being asked of them. But you make a valid point.
These days, 70k isn't much if you've got kids, and car, and student loans.
Of all three, it's the student loans that will never, ever diminish it's hold over your life or freedom! I have already paid off my home, but my student loan remains, even while paying extra every month. Because of punitive interest rates, my balance is now larger than when I took it out.
Give me all that and the 70k and I can live happy. Try all that at $27,000/ year; most people are and not making it.
I hear you. I am in the same boat, but housing can be so expensive. I don't know how much taxes would be deducted, but at 70k, you maybe have $5000 a month and in many cities, more than half of that is rent. Don't resent the guy who is only a bit better off than you. Hate the super rich.
I don't hate the guy a bit better off than me, because that guy is in debt at higher level is all. It is the greedy rich I do not like because they never did anything to deserve their super riches.
If I was physically able to do the job, I'd want to learn to repair wind turbines. Good pay and I believe in renewable energy. I just know my body, and it would break down. I come home from my current job in pain every time.
Exactly — fair pay is the foundation of attracting and keeping good people. When wages are too low, you’re not valuing the work, and you end up creating a system that only benefits from those who have no other choice. follow me back so we can keep this conversation up
Nope. This also happened in Georgia in the 90’s and it didn’t matter what the wage was, US workers either would not or could not harvest peaches. Some farmers about lost it all with fruit rotting in the orchard.
I always wonder what happens with migrants when they become citizens, which makes them no longer want to do that work? Does becoming "an American" suddenly make them lazy or incapable? Or is it something else?
Nope, around it in Texas. 1st generation works hard jobs for life hoping to educate kids into easier life. A lot don’t escape it for generations. Small town beef plants pay better than the rest of employers. They have hope for their kids, though
I mean, if it's something one hopes to 'escape' can you really blame anybody for not wanting to do it?
Citizenship means they can get better paying jobs that don't break their bodies down to the point of being disabled by the time they're 60. Most hard physical labor gets you injured regularly. Construction workers are way more likely to get hooked on opiates b/c of job injuries.
EXACTLY!
Maybe, there were growers in CA offering up to $25/hour plus health benefits. They still couldn’t get anyone but migrant workers to show up.
Maybe $25 was just still too low for that region for that kind of work.
$25 an hour is too low anywhere in CA. For any kind of work, unless it is something you can do while also doing another $25 an hour job. There are a few places in CA where $50 an hour is sufficient to survive.
I’m completely shocked 🙄
But, they're eating the cats and dogs... What about THAT???
White working class Americans have had too good for too long. Maybe now they will show some respect for migrant workers.
White working class citizens, just like immigrants, haven't had a minimum wage increase in 16 years. 44% of US workers aren't paid a living wage. 50 million have no insurance. Another 40 million have inadequate insurance. More than 40 million live in poverty. Many of us respect migrants.
Take big money out of politics and things get much better. Trump is all about tax cuts for billionaires. He is defunding Medicaid and Social Security could be next. Why do many Americans vote against their own best interest remains a mystery.
I’ve see this before. No truer words from LBJ.
Also simply enough, if you're a poor enough citizen, if you were healthier you could be doing something that pays much better and ...then have decent health care. Impoverishing people does not make them anything but less capable of work like that even if they would otherwise maybe be able to.
Nope, they will choose AI.
Very sorry. White men are lazy!!!
But those are all the jobs that were supposed to have been STOLEN!!! Fuckin' delicate little candy asses....
Is this from the 2012 law that failed so miserably that they rescinded it in less than a year? Brilliant to vote for the guy who campaigned on doing this nationwide.
That's interesting. Why don't you tell your everyday billionaire to leave the immigrants alone. Oh, he won't stop and you are on the menu too? They are trying to buy your farm for pennies on the dollar? Too bad you didn't see this coming like we warned you would and IS happening.
I know this first hand. White people can’t handle agriculture. Plus, if they work too much they lose their welfare. They prefer welfare vs 40 work week.
There is no welfare in this country. Reagan saw to that.
unhealthy !!!
$12.5 an hour at $100 a day X5 days, X52 weeks... $26k with no health benefits... and thats non-seasonal work like farmers need. They underpay, dont provide stable employment, and its laborious work. The funny thing is none of these "farmers" could do the work on their own farms either.
They voted for this🙄As a person who was born and raised in Alabama I’m not surprised! However, the 3 major cities are predominantly Black. We just got back a Congressional District that was previously gerrymandered and we only had 1. Voter suppression is also an issue. Our major cities are Blue🤷🏾♀️
I can hardly believe anyone was so stupid they didnt realize this. One single day gardening as a hobby and they should’ve figured it out quick. Must be a wild life being that dumb, just in a daze everywhere you go, not understanding basics.
Huh. So you say farm labor is hard work eh? Having spent the summer months on my grandfathers farm, I can tell you unequivocally, that it is the hardest work I've ever done. No surprise that the people the immigrant laborers weren't taking jobs from Americans, as no Americans can do it.
These triple Trumpers have fucked around and found out. But they still love their dear leader.
we sort of told you so.... esp being from rural IA.. no locals can do this work..NONE.
Duh! You are correct, American workers can’t handle field work. The US has brought in farm workers for decades! Jobs such as roofing, some nasty construction & other outdoor hot, sun beating down weather jobs. And they sure as hell won’t work for the little that immigrants will. Not rocket science!
First generation immigrants have done the jobs no one else will do for at least a century and a half. Before that it was indentured servants, orphans and slaves. Republicans want to go back to the latter.
Agree!
They did it under shitty conditions, for shitty pay, and shitty (zero) benefits. They paid taxes. They paid into Social Security, knowing they won’t collect a penny of it… I know. I’m preaching to the choir. But goddamn their stupidity and racism!
Proof that MAGA and the MAHAs are neither mentally nor physically fit. Who woulda thunk.
Summary: Except for all the hard work, it's not that hard. 🙄
Roll Tide
Keith doesn’t look like he gets his hands dirty.
It's almost as if agriculture is skilled labor & people without an agricultural background can't be plunked into those jobs. But also! That agricultural employers are underpaying their workers & refusing to provide the rights & safe working conditions that Americans have fought for and won. Huh.
Exactly, the Americans hired "don't work fast enough" says the farmer who was used to having the whip in his hand to threaten the immigrants status to even be in this country. Some of these farmers call ICE on the last payday to steal their workers wages. 99% probably voted Trump, FAFO ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So many jobs called unskilled are underpaid but require experience to be effective. I'm so tired of the class-warfare of this narrative, making sure that everywhere the workers society needs to function are paid peanuts & insulted & exploited. Those who do the most get the least. It's so wrong.
Right on, and these fat complainers are top of the list
Underpayment and depriving workers of the safety and benefits they deserve isn't limited to immigrants. The federal minimum wage hasn't increased in 16 years. Someone being paid $7.25 an hour has to work 100 hours a week to afford the essentials. It's not just an immigrant problem.
also the mexicans are slaves in a shack for this guy
Same could be said for service sector/"essential" workers
Farmers are counting on 47 to bail their loyal tails out of this mess.
Agreed...
everybody loves everybody, great but this unfit cow of a "farmer" makes bank off effectively enslaving an illegal workforce. he faces no sanction, they do. He deserves the noose for the conditions, and demanding labor accede to them.
This. Absolutely THIS.
Exactly, he is not fit enough to do his own job. But, yes, let's hear more about how the replacement employees can't keep up.
Americans have known this for over 60 years. Immigrants have ALWAYS done the hard, dangerous work that Americans can't or won't do. And they have never been paid what their work is worth. Sooo, Farmers with crops that need to be harvested, good luck. Americans, food is going to get more expensive👽
The farmers whining now are the same ones who voted for this and they'd vote for the racist p3dophile again because they are also racist p3dophiles. I hope those farmers lose everything including a home to live in.
This is an AP video from 10 years ago. Not that it doesn't apply today or inform us but it is from 10 years ago. youtu.be/a7q3ofdJRKc?...
Agreed, the reported 9.9% unemployment rate was a tipoff.
Thank you. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, while expecting a different response."
Too fucking bad Republicans, third party voters, and those who decided to stay home instead of exercising their civic duty didn't think about this before the election. But her laugh.
📌 #pin
For most farmers, I have no sympathy. Many voted for Trump because he promised they would get rich because we would not spend money on migrants. And now they are learning that when we kept saying that he was lying to them, they are shocked that Trump lied to them.
Cry Me a River. I Don’t Care.
Cry Me a River.
But they would still vote for him
Guessing that U.S. government didn't learn their lesson back in 1965! 🤷 When The U.S. Government Tried To Replace Migrant Farmworkers With High Schoolers : The Salt : NPR share.google/UWsvHNMAyCqy...
In DeKalb County, IL in the 70s and 80s, kids worked summers for DeKalb Ag and detassled and pollinated corn.
Alabama just got called out for raising a bunch of fat, lazy white boys.
I mean the fact that you've never seen Americans, especially white ones in the fields EVER, does it come as a surprise to anyone that they're not capable of doing that kind of demanding work? I honestly think maga republikkans lack the common sense needed to be a successful politician in the USA. 🤷♀️
It’s crazy funny cuz where I grew up in northern Maine, families ( kids) would have 3 weeks for fall harvest and pick potatoes! Not an immigrant, colored or mentally weak I guess!!
The County in the fall isn't Alabama in August. fgs. Of course those indoor Alabamians aren't conditioned to field labor. I feel sorry for the farmers, and I REALLY feel sorry for anyone who plans to eat food this fall and winter. Local farmers' markets can only do so much.
If you would have voted for the black lady, you wouldn’t be in this situation. But keep voting against your best interests over and over again.
Well, duh
Well, 'suprise, suprise, suprise' as Gomer Pyle would say
How bout we also consider the other side of the equation - migrant workers have been unfairly exploited
Backbreaking labor for 70-100 dollars works out to realistically 7-10$/hr assuming that a ten hour workday is standard. 100% exploitative. Double the wage and they’d likely get able bodied, non-desperate labor.
Yea, well we know now that was bullshit
IT WAS TRUE - VANCE CANT STAND FELON TRUMP BUT HES LIKE THE REST OF THE MAGOTS - HIS PAYCHECK WILL MAKE HIM KISS TRUMPS DIRTY FILTHY ASS!!!
That part.
And that's result of huge disparity in living conditions and live cost.when for you 2000$ wage per month is below poverty, for someone elsewhere 20$ per week is sustainable. It's not just them being exploited. Every american outside of "exempt" 0.1% is being exploited to cause this disparity.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Far more ilkely
Yes they have. What have republicans done to try to reverse that narrative besides deport them?
I mean, I don't think that's the other side of the equation. It's more like two terms on the same side of the equal sign with a "+", "*" or "AND" operator between them.
That makes no sense. We are holding Alabama voters responsible for their votes. They voted to deport these ppl, decimate their farm industry workforce, and offer zero fair compensation salary/workplace safety/benefits for farm workers. It’s not a “both sides” situation
This is more of a “yes, and” situation. Migrant workers have been exploited for DECADES. Low wages, long hours, poor working conditions, including sexual harassment and sexual assault, plus the threat to deport has always been there. Neither party has done much about that. Learn from this and fix it
Except who voted to deport them to horrific situations under horrific circumstances? Hold them accountable for their vote. Stop both sidesing it
It is not a both sides thing. It is fact. Americans love their cheap produce but don’t have a clue of what goes on in the fields of corporate farms. I want you all to realize that when you stand up for migrant workers, you stand ALL THE WAY UP. Like I said, “Yes, and, demand better for them.”
They are being deported. Placed in horrible circumstances. In front of their children. Separated. And sent to prisons to die. But u have ur m head so far up ur ass ur more worried bout them getting free healthcare and a fair wage if they somehow survive. God damn
Hey 👋 to both of you. You are both making correct points. May I add that migrant workers pay taxes with ZERO protections. We will suffer without them, and a vote to deport was SOOO WRONG. But the exploitation is criminal. Caesar Chavez was right to fight for field workers for ivermectin 100yrs.
Ok auto-dumb-ass-correct! How did you change OVER to ivermectin?Whose you overlord?
You weren’t worried about them before this? They are just a political pawns to you. Resorting to personal attacks on me shows that you are no better than the MAGAts, just here to argue with people. 🙄
I was extremely worried about them before. I live in Texas. I’m even more worried about them now bc ppl like u aren’t holding trump voters accountable for their vote. U got ur damn head up ur ass attacking me
This person is positioning that it’s worth it to have this conversation on the front rather than the back. If we start with exploitation of immigrants it will help immigrants, good farmers, and the Dems. We don’t need to ignore this often unsaid truth, as it’s a problem that can be fixed by Dems.
My point is that dems don’t have the vote or voice in Alabama to make change to the farm labor industry
Alabama is a red state. It wouldn’t matter if dems gave farm workers 6 figure salaries with 30 day minimum vacay, healthcare, dental and eye coverage. They don’t have the votes.
Then let them wallow in their own shit.......let's see how much pain they can endure.
Sorry, thinking your reply was to another post I didn’t realize was yours too. That’s not the point. The person you responded to is bringing up it’s worth it to mention. Like be the important part of this issue. To be sympathetic to the exploited and establishing a line we can move as leftists.
I disagree. Holding ppl accountable for their vote is the pressing issue today. Alabama got what they voted for!
💯💯💯
Here we go again with you shitty assholes. “Those kids in Texas deserved it for being born in Texas”, “those immigrants deserve it because they were in Alabama”, “America as a whole deserves to starve because a portion of the population is too stupid to breathe and our politicians love that”
Nobody said immigrants in AL deserved it. What we said was trump voters decimated their farm industry workforce by voting for trump immigration deportation policy. They got what they voted for and will suffer high grocery bills as a result. Ur just making shit up
Nobody said any of that. What we said was that the ppl who voted against early warning flood systems, against climate change leg, for development in flood areas- got exactly what they voted for. A massive catastrophe involving flooding. Stop lying. Start listening
Corporate mafia predatory capitalism with Christian Aryan Nation pedophile organizations that believe in fascism are in control. As they silence science&enslave the masses, Big Tech doubles oil production milking greed that AI increases profits with fake data processing robots, eliminating workers
So you're saying you want retribution and don't really care much about governing.
No. What I’m saying is I voted for these migrants to be treated w dignity and respect, given fair compensation for their work, healthcare coverage, and work safety provisions. Republicans in Alabama voted to treat them inhumanely and deport them. They got what they voted for.
And I'm reminding you that some 34% of Alabamans voted for the same things you did. They were the minority in Alabama but let me assure you they worked 100x harder than Dems in blue states against impossible odds, gerrymandering, voter suppression, and almost zero DNC support.
Believe me, there is already real suffering in a red state.
Listen. I’m the minority in a red state. I face the consequences of actions taken by republicans every damn day. What do i do about it? I constantly remind republicans what shitty ppl they are and exactly what they voted for. I’m not gonna lay down and cry over it. How’s that working out 4 ya?
Our point is there are those who did not vote for Trump, who live there! That’s the point! We are worried about the immigrants still there. The Dems still there. For the most vulnerable who were the first impacted as they often are even as they still vote blue even as Dems forget they are there.
I live in TX. I voted for early flood warning systems, restrict development on flood prone areas, fully funded fema for disaster relief. I’m not gonna cry when their kids are killed from their own actions. I don’t care that they can’t get govt help. I just feel bad these kids have shitty parents.
Republicans just say, "Suck it up, buttercup" while they continue to under-educate and abuse their people. If it ain't Drump they're blindly worshipping, it's Jesus. Sorry, but completely turned off religion by the abuse of 'authority', 'religion', and so many pedos in power. Think for yourselves.
This isn’t some board game. These are lives. Immigrants are alive. Not only is that important to know, knowing and saying this will help give people the fight and belief in our leaders we need to defeat Republicans. BTW, for those who could legally vote there, 772,412 voted for Harris.
Republicans don’t give a Fuck. What they care about it their grocery bill. If u don’t tie their vote to their grocery bill and repeated a million times over- they will keep voting R. At least u have some chance of them not voting in 2026 if u can hold them accountable
So what if Republicans don’t give a fuck? We aren’t appealing to them, so why appeal to them? And once again, Dems live there. It wasn’t even half the eligible voters, which is significantly less than their whole pop. This convo is not about reaching Republicans, and it’s not just about Alabama.
A skunk will always be a skunk
No one takes more joy in minorities suffering than liberals on social media. Jesus Christ. You fucking salivate about feeding people to Republicans, it's insane.
That is bullshit. Fucking MAGAs are posing for pictures at Alligator Alcatraz, Dr. Phil is going on ICE raids and ICE is hiring 18 year olds and J6ers. Cut the crap. This is a real crisis, not an online bitch fest.
Nobody loves Fascism more than fucking tankies. STFU
Abby. I am A minority in a red state. So now what. U wanna delete ur post?
Ummm. What?
And how many non-trumpers/Republicans didn't bother to vote or help to push out the vote? Quite a few I'm sure. And us in blue states are also suffering because of what the magas have done and we also have to live with it! How frustrated do you think we are?
Abby, WTF r you spewing? I think u mistaken BlueSky for X dear, No liberal or democrats enjoy or as u say salivate on feeding people to REPUBLICAN SCUM BUT REPUBLICANS DO! Go drink your KOOLAID!
Yet, it’s your R people that are taking advantage of these workers and paying them a shit wage with no benefits. Your conservatives are the ones causing the suffering, you twit. So get off your high horse and begin to think critically for once.
Immigrants are not the lazy ones lady, and there is no suffering in working hard to make a living
Both Dems & Reps conspired together to use the neoliberalist "Poverty as a Policy Choice" for the last 40 years. 66% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. They work 2-3 jobs on 6-7 days per week. They still can't make rent & buy food for their kids. They skip meals. No time to read news or vote.
Who wrote anything remotely like that?
suffering? As a minority I grew up with a true work ethic. We've never been the lazy wetbacks that you called us. Liberals told you this would happen. They told you Caucasians didn't want the work and lo and behold! Alabamans getting what they voted for and the laborers they deserve.
You’re being a Karen right now, just listen. Their whole point is that the republicans don’t give a fuck about decency so we need to appeal to what they care about so we can drag this country back from the brink of fascism. Then maybe we can pass better laws!
Yeah that’s not it. We’ve just come to the realization that talking common sense to these people is pointless. They have lost touch with reality. So feeling the consequences of their actions is the only thing that hasn’t been tried. Let them feel it. Make them feel it. Its not something to avoid
I don’t see why one has to “both sides” every advertisement. Democrats can’t do anything for people in red states. The only way to make change is for them to win elections. It is that simple. You’re putting the cart before the horse. We need people in power who see immigrants as people.
Look, this isn’t a vague both sides, this is a care about non-Trumpers in red states discussion. The TX Dems attempting to prevent Abbott’s redistricting? They have Dem voters, right? Focus on those Dems, not the thieves. We can embark on a debate on what is helpful, but that’s a diff discussion.
You’re talking about immigrant/migrant labor pay & benefits in Alabama in response to Alabama farmers talking about their issue being not having any labor at all. That’s because the federal government decimated their workforce. How would talking about better pay & benefits go if your those farmers?
Alex, chump got 1.4 million Alabama votes…this is what they voted for, let them enjoy this shit sandwich.
1.4 million out of 3,798,039 million eligible voters out of documented 5,157,699 people voted for Trump, so everyone must suffer. Like, why? Why is that important to you? Do you just not care? Like you people are weird.
U must not live in the south. Calling yourself a Christian and voting republican gives u a license to be a shitty person. Ur not gonna change them my guy. Ur gonna hold them accountable and let them pull themselves up by their bootstraps when the economy crashes.
Elections have consequences Alex…I stopped caring when way too many of our fellow citizens decided to put the felon and racist back in office, as if his first term wasn’t fucking bad enough. Also, the left need to get over this purity politics bullshit, if it’s Newsom for ‘28, LFG!
While I don’t disagree with the sentiment about people’s lives, it feels like some states and our nation just needs to go through some stuff before we learn anything. Farmers disproportionately voted for this.
They did go through it. They are going through it. I am from the south. I have family generations in the south. Friends with generations in the south. We are all POC. We did and are going through it! Know this, Republicans won those states and they are doing the things they need to stay in power.
Where exactly do u live.
Sad to hear for those going thru it.But until plurality chooses otherwise, it’s going to con’t. I lived in the south for 3 yrs, and I can’t remember how many times I had conversations that felt like the mass mindset (not powerful people) made decisions to their own detriment.
I'm from Alabama, and I voted straight democratic ticket with Kamala Harris!
I’m from Texas and did the same. But the state of Texas did not. So we got what we voted for with kids getting killed from the flooding that was highly preventable if gop rules wasn’t in place in TX for 3 decades combined w two trump terms
Did they? Harris cheated out of 3,650,000 votes by these Jim Crow tricks. 4.7 million voters purged. 3.2 million registrations rejected. 2.1 million mail-in ballots tossed. See tinyurl.com/28futdwr
Yes they did. Just like Texas. The trump voters running these states need to take accountability for their actions
Amen!!
No one in this thread disagrees with this, by the way. This person knee jerk reacted and then either didn’t realize we weren’t talking about Trump supporters or really does think non-Trump supporters stuck in those states don’t deserve sympathy.
Pure bull. I told u that now is the time to hold trump supporters accountable for their actions. Kids drowned in Texas bc Texas voters were more concerned about them identifying as cats at school. It doesn’t mean I’m not concerned about kids - I’m showing trumpers the damage they have caused.
BY this fat piece of shit, btw
They don’t feel they’re being exploited. They travel across countries and borders for a chance at this “exploitation”.
Yet it’s weird how the GOP hasn’t proposed resident work permits which would help protect workers from exploitation by making their employment less under-the-table. It’s almost like, hmmm…they don’t care.
RepubliCons have been exploiting them and situations; anything to rile up voters to vote for RepubliCons. For 25 years, Democrats tried to get RepubliCons to get a fair immigration/border bill done, one that included an immigration court and judges ... 1
at the Southern border to adjudicate faster asylum seekers, but they absolutely refused. Why? Because RepubliCons used it to browbeat Democrats every election to say they were to blame all these people keep sneaking in, all this crime these people bring, all those terrorists ...2
coming across the border, all those drugs pouring in, etc. Gotta have that boogeyman to scare those paranoid people into voting for GOP; GOD KNOWS tax cuts for the rich and deregulating corporations won't do ... 3
it. Scratch their back so they can keep on cheating you. How it's been since Reagan. How's that new Trump border wall? Isn't it spiffy? And the border IS STILL WIDE open. Nothing but two-faced LIARS, REPUBLICONS are. Never trust them again. Paper ballots only. ... 4
No GOP RIGGED VOTING MACHINES if you want your vote to count. The govt EAC, PO IS also compromised. No mail-in ballots. Govt election office or poll place to hand in ballot after screenshot them for your proof of voting and for whom. Rid as many GOP CHEATERS as you can Midterms. ... 5
That is also true. That is what Caesar Chavez try to fix. Migrants have been the backbone of this country since its inception.
That’s quite a tautology as U.S. as a country is what immigrants founded. It’s the organization of people who had arrived there from elsewhere. As far as I know the native Americans were doing fine though, getting food and all without the help of the migrants.
The Star Wars show Andor had a segment where the Farmer waited until the crop was harvested. Then he called the Empire to pick up the workers because they were illegal. The farmer kept the workers money. That’s what some farmers used to do here, but the called La Migra.
lol, that is not what happened in Andor, at all
So, the harvest is over and the farmer called the Empire….. What happened then? If I got it wrong, please let me know.
The farmer did not call the empire, Brasso pretended like he thought the farmer turned them in to protect the farmer that had been helping them
Ok thank you. The force was not with me that day, I was wrong.
We are so arrogant in this country. Yes, we are/were exploiting these people . The working conditions and pay are horrible. Instead of leaving them alone we pick on and threaten deportation. I think we Americans need to feel a little pain so we can humble ourselves.

Exactly. I want to see fair wages, health insurance, and shade!
Yes they have and now they want to exploit Americans.
exactly. Give American workers a decent wage and benefits for the job they are doing, safe working conditions, etc and they will do the work. But what Alabama farmers want is people who will ride UNPAID for two + hours each way in a sweltering bus in order to put in 10 hour days at minimum wage.
Oh yes! Shockingly, no one wants to go there.
Let’s not start on how that was the case, back in the day in NYC, when Herr Drumpf purposely hired non union Hispanic immigrant labor to work on his properties, and then stiffed them.
Much the same in the UK after Brexit. bsky.app/profile/olia...
They should make way more money since it's hard labor.
As the son of immigrants, it's a gentleman's bargain. The boss provides an opportunity that the migrant wouldn't have in their home country, the migrant works his butt off to feed his family. The exploitation happen in Capitalism regardless. The opportunity would go to someone worse and all lose.
Hey MAGA, here are the jobs that were taken from you, according to your pedo dear leader. Get the fuck to work you lazy incels, you whining white supremacists. Get your asses out there. I got your wish, exactly what you voted for. They’re gone & now we really see what useless pussies u all are.
👏👏👏👍
Spot on. This so-called “master race” of nothing but greasy, whiny, bigoted, idiotic losers just fucking shot themselves right in the dick and now they’re finding out.
Guess these physically fit farmers with their buff bodies are gonna have to go out in the fields and show the rest of us how it’s done
I worked in agriculture for over 25 years and it's insane to expect the average American, that's used to working at a desk, to take over the work involved. The farmers have reaped what they sowed.
My family had a blueberry farm, mostly to get my older brothers and sisters out of the house during summer (5 brothers, 5 sisters). Once they started going to college my parents sold it. They all have skin issues and PTSD. It did pay for their college but it was not a real fun time for them.
I'm just ranting here. I have a friend who has an apple orchard. Crews of legal migrant workers come in every year to work & harvest the trees. I am honored to have met these folks. Hard, hard workers. Amazing culture, food, music. Such a damn shame so many people have hate in their hearts.
Your appreciation for migrant workers' contributions honors their dignity. Cultural exchange through labor enriches society far beyond economics.
Im shocked....really.🤦♀️🤦♀️
And they all voted for the criminal pig in the WH. “You reap what you sow.”
$100 a day is poverty wages
44% of workers in the United States aren't paid a living wage. If you earn federal minimum wage, which is still $7.25 an hour just like it has been since 2009, you need to work 100 hours a week in order to be able to afford the basics - food, housing, utilities, toilet paper, transportation.
No shit
A sort of "The Ballad of Tita and the Machines", but with American workers.
We already knew this, but hey kudos to the ones that tried.
They FAFO’d.
This is their second experiment driving undocumented workers out. Slow learning can get costly.
This fat slave overseer "farmer" wanted the tougher enforcement bsky.app/profile/smoo...
bsky.app/profile/smoo...
It's Alabama. Slow learning is a given. Case in point, they made total moron Tommy Tuberville their senator.
Can’t get dumber than that.
Markwayne Mullin begs to differ.
Iirc, Alabama enacted a series of laws to encourage "self deportation" last decade to similar results (rotting crops in fields) before ending those policies. Slow learning, no-learning, or self-harm in response to perpetual fear-mongering?
Self harm is rampant in Alabama. Ask medical practitioners what state has the highest incidence of people who regularly eat dirt, because they love it, a condition politely called Pika.
Really?!?!! My old dog used to eat dirt, when he was alive!
Precisely. They tried this shit after the “Papers please” law was put into place. Stupid hayseeds.
Alabama keeps burning itself on the stove top over and over again.
Indiana, since Mike Pence was governor and the gop gerrymandering the lege into super majorities, is chasing Alabama to try to beat it to the stove top.
Need we remind all...who is their Governor
Alabama and Georgia, 2011. Learned the hard way— citizens cannot compete with Professional Harvesters. A year later their GOP Legislatures repealed the laws to where they were.
We need the immigrants, always have since the first days of the colonies. We are a nation of immigrants, when did your family come to US. Mine came about 1904 to escape being in Russian army. All grands have master degrees and are prof.
Most fail to see or refuse to accept this fact that 99% of Americans and their descendants came from somewhere else. And 1904 wasn’t long ago my grandfather was 8 and grandmother was 4 years old then. That’s only 3 generations to me.
But, it is about 120+ years since we came. I am third generation, and my daughter fourth. You should see what those “kids” are doing and they have kids. The family tree keeps growing.
3/4 of my family immigrated from England/Scotland/Wales in the 1850s. One grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1920s.
And judging by your picture, you have contributed a lot to this country. This is why we need immigrants, we need the influx of new talent, new genes, and new ideas. I think that maybe some of the MAGA need to find a new country and they will make more contributions than they can make here.
Potato famine in Ireland
created by fat old overseers like we see in this video
Another good reason to come here. Bet your family has contributed a lot to our country and culture.
Divisively dividing we the people is the Nazi game plan. For now it is immigrants, who will be next? "Propaganda must facilitate the displacement of aggression by specifying the targets for hatred". Joseph Goebbels
First they came... for the socialists and I did not speak out-because I was not a socialist, ... Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out- because I was not a Jew, Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me. -Martin Niemờller RESIST TYRANNY!
They won’t be able to get beyond the immigrants
We will protect the immigrants
Mine all came before the Rev War and believe me they didn’t want any “others” especially Catholics and now our Supreme Court is full of them.
No, we have had this bigot problem every time a new group of immigrants has come here for a new life, and although we have had actions against the new groups, eventually they were accepted and become part of the quilt. Every new group has become an important contributor to our wonderful diversity.
Yes of course but I love to point that out to my 2nd generation Catholic Italian and Pole friends seem to be the most vocal about immigration. How soon we forget.
It is easy to forget and not remember how awful conditions can be today. The fact is that we need the immigrants, we have already depended on immigration. I don’t know how to convince them because their reaction has been fashioned by lies from the bigots. Trumps have always been bigoted.
💯
Are these the same people who voted for a man who thinks we had airports in the 1770s? Not airplanes mind you but full blown colonial airports!!!! Yeah, going forward you don’t really need to tell us they aren’t mentally tough enough. That much is clear!!!
Yup
Not so bright 😳
Sharp as beach balls!!!
Please God, let me see just one video of some ponderous, weak, pseudo-Christian fascist fuckwad picking tomatoes or any other fruit or vegetable for an entire day for pennies. I wanna see that.
